Subscriber.dev doesn’t send email itself. It hands each email to a provider you connect, such as Resend, Amazon SES or Postmark. You keep your own sending reputation and pay the provider directly. Each environment needs at least one provider. Without one, email steps fail with “No email integration configured”.

Connect a provider

You can connect more than one, and the next is tried if one fails. See Integrations.

Avoid the spam folder

Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook check that email really comes from you. With your provider:
  1. Verify your sending domain.
  2. Add the SPF and DKIM DNS records the provider gives you.
  3. Add a DMARC record, such as v=DMARC1; p=none; to start with.
Subscriber.dev already does the rest: every email has a plain-text version, an unsubscribe link, and one-click unsubscribe headers, which Gmail and Yahoo require from bulk senders. Sending from a subdomain, such as mail.acme.com, keeps your marketing email’s reputation separate from your main domain.

Postal address

Marketing email usually includes the sender’s physical postal address. Set it once on the workspace and it appears in the footer of every email:
Or ask your agent: “Set our postal address to Acme Inc., 1 Market Street, San Francisco.” Agents use update_workspace. To remove it, set it to "".

Bounces

A bounce is an email that couldn’t be delivered. A hard bounce means the address doesn’t exist; a soft bounce is temporary, such as a full inbox. When a hard bounce comes back, the subscriber is opted out so you don’t keep sending to a dead address, which hurts your reputation. Soft bounces are recorded but don’t opt anyone out. Bounces and spam complaints are picked up automatically from Resend, Postmark and Amazon SES, and a spam complaint opts the subscriber out. Cloudflare Email reports bounces only. Neither is picked up over SMTP. Analytics shows sends and bounces for an environment.
